Due to the popularity of our Basic Handgun course we figured there might be a lot of people interested a similar class that covers rifles and shotguns.

Basic Long Gun Safety and Responsibility
In this class, you will learn to handle rifles and shotguns safely, load and unload them properly, shoot accurately, understand the laws concerning their use and ownership, and make a more informed decision as to whether you want to own a firearm.

Anti-gunners in Bellevue

West Coast Armory is having a tough time getting it’s final occupancy from the city of Bellevue. A group of anti-gunners is constantly calling the city and placing flyers on vehicles in the Factoria area.

West Cost Armory is located adjacent to what used to be the Weapons Safety Inc. that operated as a public range and retail gun store for over 7 years. The WCA indoor range is “members & guests only” and doesn’t sell anything to the general public at the Bellevue location.

Despite the opposition by some anti-gun group, the Bellevue Police Department considers the location ideal, and WCA is contracted with several law enforcement agencies to provide the range for training.

InSights uses the WCA Range for many of our training classes, including those in handgun safety!

Those of you living or working in the area, please contact the Bellevue city council and politely register your support of the West Coast Armory Range:

Recommended 9mm carry ammunition

We get a lot of questions about what 9mm ammunition we recommend for self defense. The short answer is 124gr. +P JHP from Federal, Remington, or Winchester.

These rounds tend to function reliably and meet the FBI standards for penetration in ballistic gelatin. These rounds are what most modern 9mm handguns are designed to shoot and thus tend to be the most reliable. Regardless of what the marketing department of an ammunition manufacturer will tell you, there just isn’t that much difference between products in real world terminal ballistic performance, so the real issue is what functions the most reliably in your particular gun.
