Urban Ops: Surveillance I

$600 per student

Learn how it's really done from someone who has really done it. Not only is this a challenging, cool, fun class that will teach you skills that are very difficult to learn anywhere else, but it also has a tangent to your personal safety. Are you concerned for your and your family's safety amidst rising crime? Maybe you're a High Value Target -- or just High Value Enough! This class will help you recognize when you are the target of potentially criminal surveillance so that you can act accordingly. Also great professional development for private investigators.

Learn principles of covert surveillance, tailing a High Value Target in multiple settings, vehicle insertion and extraction, and more. Equipment list is minimal: vehicle, cell phone, notebook, lunch, snacks, drinks. We provide the radios and maps.

Prerequisites:

CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT or documentation of good character, AND BRING THOSE DOCUMENTS WITH YOU TO CLASS. If you do not have a concealed weapons permit, here is a link to the WSP background check service. If you are not a WA resident, please find your state's equivalent service. http://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/criminal-history

Required Equipment:

Cell phone and charger (ideally smart phone – if not, partner with student who has one)
1 car per two students minimum
Notebook and pen
Snacks and drinks

We will provide:

Radios and chargers
Maps

Optional Equipment:

Small binoculars or monocular
35mm or DSLR camera with zoom
