High Risk Tactical ResponseThis course will give the Patrol Officer the ability to recognize, contain, and if necessary, approach and WIN an ongoing violent encounter.This course deals with Patrol response to active violent encounters. The Officer will learn awareness of how officers are attacked and injured, spotting and avoiding common tactical mistakes, the tactics that minimize officers being targeted with violence (tactical positioning, and minimizing target indicators) and with those tactics necessary to win if it comes to the use of force. The course will make extensive use of tactical simulations and will take place in real buildings. A high emphasis will be placed on decision making in "Role playing" scenarios. The scenarios will include both tactical decision making and deadly force decision making while under stress. The officer will learn tactical principles, guidelines, and techniques, building searching tactics such as dealing with room clearing, managing danger areas like stairwells, doorways, and hallways, and the use of fighting equipment under limited visibility conditions. The Officers will progress from individual skills up to the squad-sized element. The course will stress teamwork, leadership, and creative use of tactics to ensure the safety of the Officers, the public, and the Subject. The Officer will learn how to conduct tactical approaches to ongoing events, the use of ballistic shields, and both verbal and hand & arm signals for tactical control. Lecture and range content will be tailored to the audience, so as to fulfill individual requirements. |
