Utah Concealed carry class.
While InSights runs training all over the US, most of our training classes for private citizens are done in the Seattle, Washington area. Getting a Concealed Pistol License in Washington is really quick and easy, but it is only valid in 19 other states (Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.)
You can get 13 additional states by obtaining a non-resident Utah Concealed pistol license. (Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wyoming.) However, the application process is a little more complicated – especially if you don’t live in Utah.
First you must meet the eligibility requirements:
- You do need to be at least 21 years old.
- You cannot have a felony conviction on your record.
- You can not have been convicted of any crime of violence.
- You must not have been convicted of any offense involving the use of alcohol or unlawful use of narcotics or controlled substances.
- No convictions involving any domestic violence.
- Also you can never been adjudicated in U.S. courts as mentally incompetent, unless that was reversed or withdrawn.
- You can not have been convicted of any offense that involves moral turpitude.
Then you need to provide or obtain the following:
- A copy of a valid driver’s license.
- A passport quality photograph of you for the new permit.
- A completed fingerprint card prepared by a trained fingerprint technician.
- A weapons familiarity class taught by a Utah Certified Firearms Instructor
InSights Training Center offers a 4-hour all-inclusive class that fulfills the Utah training requirement mandated by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (B.C.I.) and gets your application ready to submit to Utah for your Concealed Firearm Permit. All you have to do afterwards is drop it application packet in the mail.
Update: Florida and Colorado have reciprocity with Utah at the time of this writing, but do not honor non-resident permits.

I would like to point out
Colorado,Florida,New Hampshire, & North Dakota DO NOT honor the Utah Non Resident License, they do honor Resident License, but not the non resident.
Nebraska now honors Utah both Resident & Non Resident
Sorry in error on North Dakota, Utah Non Resident honored
@Duck: Not according to the NRA as of July 2009.
John,
Hate to say it, but NRA info is dated, check http://www.handgunlaw.us They took the place of Packing .org a couple of years ago. There are links to each states AG sites or State police that will confirm.
The only Non Resident License that FL or NH honor is their own, Colorado use to honor Non Resident Licenses, but changed there law in ether 06 or 07
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety as of 15 September 2009:
Colorado, Florida, New Hampshire, and North Dakota all have formal reciprocity agreements with Utah.
The latest info from Colorado (March 2009) says it doesn’t honor non-resident permits. I am not sure which state website is correct.
The latest info from Florida (September 2009) says it doesn’t honor non-resident permits.
Yes they have formal agreements but NH,CO, FL do not honor any non resident licenses
NH http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp/ssb/permitslicensing/plupr.html
“PLEASE NOTE: The State of New Hampshire will only recognize resident concealed handgun licenses from these states. Concealed handgun licenses issued by the State of New Hampshire to out-of-state residents are ONLY valid within the State of New Hampshire or within a state other than the licensee’s home state that reciprocally recognizes New Hampshire nonresident concealed carry licenses.”
So you can see that while NH has a formal agreement it does not include non resident license. Each state is correct on their websites, Utah is not sorting out which cover which.
I understand it is confusing, as an Utah Instructor, I’ve dealt with the same thing now for 4 years. But I don’t want any of my students to get in trouble ether.
Duck, Good catch – I have the home office looking into it.
